Honoring Our Independence, Recommitting to Our Community
As we gather this Fourth of July to celebrate our nation’s independence, we at the Yancey County Democratic Party pause to reflect on the enduring promise of America: liberty, justice, and equality for all.
Our founding ideals were bold and revolutionary — a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. Today, that promise continues not just in fireworks and flags, but in the everyday work of building a more just, inclusive, and transparent community.
Here in Yancey County, we’re reminded that patriotism means more than symbols — it means showing up. It means protecting our public institutions, investing in our children’s education, standing for civil rights, and ensuring that every voice is heard. Our freedom is not static — it’s a responsibility we inherit and shape for future generations.
This Independence Day, let’s celebrate not just where we’ve been, but where we’re going — together. Let’s recommit to the work of democracy, to neighborly compassion, and to building a county where everyone belongs.
Happy Fourth of July, Yancey County. May our shared values light the way forward.
